07/10/2007 Solution to complex layers in Google Maps announced
RealGIS made a major advance in the use of Google Maps for economic development this week by creating a technology that will allow large data overlays, such as zoning and demographics, to be overlaid in Google Maps. Traditionally, Google Maps is very limited in the size of files that can be displayed to an end-user.

The new innovation will be premiered in the City of Fort Collins website scheduled to roll out in August of 2007. Layers using this technology will include developable lands, demographics (households, population, and employment), and zoning.

06/26/2007 City of Fort Collins utilizes RealGIS for retail recruitment
RealGIS announced today that the City of Fort Collins has agreed to partner on a GIS mapping project designed to promote targeted retail development areas around the city. The new interactive map, which will be found on the City’s business page, will include descriptions of the eight development areas and instant navigation to those locations on the map with a single click.

Also included will be the most detailed set of mapping layers RealGIS has created to date. Major employers, developable land, targeted industry companies, traffic counts, demographics, zoning, and quality of life assets will all be included in a clickable mapping panel.
The project is expected to be complete in early August, 2007.

Northern Colorado Land Management, a land development company based out of Fort Collins, has decided on RealGIS to create a Google Earth presentation that will be used in presentations to potential investors.

The presentation includes a detailed survey of the local business parks within the region and overlaid concept sketches of some of the planned developments. Local economic assets such as major employers and recreational opportunities were also built in.

Google Earth provides a 3D aerial view that can be combined with map markers and image overlays. RealGIS offers a service that allows our clients to list the local assets they would like mapped, build them into Google Earth, and design navigational paths that best display the local area.
